The gorge of Imbros is located 57 km south-east of Chania city. This is the second popular gorge in Crete, after the gorge of Samaria.
A very convenient option for those who travel with children or those who don’t wish to have a very long walk!
Imbros gorge is easy to walk as the walking distance is 8 km and the average walking time is about 2.5 hours. There is plenty of shade along the way from the trees and the sides of the gorge!
Pay attention at your surroundings for any pleasant surprises , such us caves , interesting plants,raptors high above you , wild goats on the rocky cliffs, etc. Take the time to look behind you and enjoy the colours and height of the gorge. You may even hear some echoes in the rocks!
Continuing your journey, you will pass through some narrow passages and soon reach the exit of Imbros gorge by village Komitades.
After a short trip by bus, you will arrive at a beautiful beach to swim or have a lunch in one of the local tavernas!
