Authentic Cretan Farm Experience at Metochi
Looking for a truly authentic way to experience Cretan culture? This unique local experience invites you to step into everyday life at Metochi Farm, a traditional Cretan farmhouse with a history of more than 115 years.
Your visit begins with a warm welcome from the family who runs the farm. Together you’ll explore the land, walk through the vegetable garden, olive groves, vineyards, and meet the farm animals that are part of the daily life here. Along the way, you’ll learn about traditional farming methods and the local products that define the famous Cretan diet.
After the farm tour, the experience continues inside the farmhouse kitchen. Guided by Eleni and her mother, Chrisoula, you’ll prepare traditionelle kretische Gerichte using fresh ingredients straight from the farm: extra virgin olive oil, seasonal vegetables, local cheeses, aromatic herbs, and regional wines.
But this is much more than a cooking lesson. It’s a chance to understand how food, land, and family traditions are deeply connected in Crete.
Once the cooking is complete, everyone gathers around the table to enjoy the meal prepared together, accompanied by local wine, traditional desserts, and of course, raki, the famous Cretan spirit.
This small-group experience is suitable for all ages and can be adapted to dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, or lactose-free options.

For private groups of 6 people or more, the experience can be organized on any day.

The experience lasts approximately 5 Stunden and includes:
- Farm tour and guided experience
- Traditional Cretan cooking session
- Dinner with the dishes prepared during the experience
- Local wine, raki, and traditional sweets
- Transfer from selected meeting points near your hotel in the Chania and Kissamos area

This experience takes you on a journey through the authentic flavors and traditions of Crete, combining farm life, cooking, and Cretan hospitality.
- 16:30 – Arrival at Metochi Farmhouse
Guests arrive at the farmhouse and are welcomed by the family.
- 17:00 – Traditional Cretan Cooking Begins
Inside the farmhouse kitchen, you begin preparing traditional dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
- 18:30 – Traditional Cretan Snack
Enjoy a light traditional snack while learning more about local products and the Cretan diet.
- 19:00 – Guided Tour of the Farm
Explore the farm’s gardens, olive groves, vineyards, and animals while learning about traditional farming methods.
- 19:30 – Preparing the Dessert
Return to the kitchen to prepare a traditional Cretan dessert.
- 20:30 – Dinner with the Dishes You Prepared
Everyone gathers around the table to enjoy the dishes prepared together, accompanied by local wine.
- 21:30 – Dessert & Raki
End the evening with dessert and a glass of raki, experiencing the true spirit of Cretan hospitality.
